Jobs Report: 09/04/24

We got jobs and news for you!

Hey friend! Back with your weekly software engineer jobs report. This week we’ve got jobs and a special announcement for you on how to get even more value from this newsletter.

As always, if you just want the spreadsheet, scroll to the bottom, and click the big button at the end of the post. Let’s dive in.

Another way to get more value from these emails

We now have a referral program! Now you can win resources that supercharge your job search, when you refer your friends. The first resource is a spreadsheet with over 1000 companies using Greenhouse as their applicants tracking system.

With this spreadsheet, you can easily monitor multiple job boards for your perfect role, and apply to all of them with ease. This is just one of the many items we’ve got planned for you. (Spoiler: We’re working on adding Leetcode and LinkedIn subscriptions!)

To get your share link, hit the Click to Share button, copy your link, and share it with your friends, classmates, colleagues, or on social media, to get your resources!

Low Baller of the week

We got not 1, not 2, but 3 low ballers this week. The first is offering 111k for a Senior software engineer position in SAN FRANCISCO! Avoid, avoid, avoid. The pay is not worth it for the seniority and location. The company is SPAN.

The next two are low ballers by omission and pretty promises. SIXGEN wants you to move to Fort Meade (again!?) for a “competitive” salary. Competitive based on whaaaaaaaattt!? Local, regional, or global pay scales? They don’t say! Avoid.

An then there’s Gensyn, a blockchain company. You lost me at blockchain. Yet another role with promises of a revolutionary future based in their protocol, accompanied with a “competitive” salary. My ToDo app clone brings more value than this role. Just run away in the opposite direction.

Big Baller of the week

We got two shot callers. The first is a VP of Software Engineering role at Jabra Hearing offering 325k. While Reddit is offering 325k for a Principal Software Engineer position.

What’s interesting here is that these roles are on opposite career tracks but near the same org level, with the same pay therefore we can see the roles are paying market rates. However Jabra wins out because its 325k in Minnesota. Shoot for 325k I’ll spend the winters there!
